Job Description

  •Design, implement and provide production support of the company database instances
•Maintain database monitoring tools to optimise performance of database environment
•Communicate with technical, application operational team and external service providers to ensure database integrity and security including access rights
•Promote automation of database tasks to improve efficiencies and response times
•Document and maintain standards policies and procedures in line with Industry best practice and compliance requirements
•Design, build and migrate new database instances to meet project objectives
•Work in consultation with technology teams and external service providers to implement enhancements, changes and fixes to production instances
•Collaborate with stakeholders and internal technology teams to improve performance and availability of database instances
•Work productively with external providers to ensure they are fully apprised of company Database needs, expectations and delivery requirements.
•Anticipate, shape and provide education, training, assistance and guidance to stakeholders when needed
•Active team member, able and willing to contribute in a number of areas to meet objectives
•Provide leadership and management of team members as appropriate.
•Set and maintain high standards of performance for self and others
•Take responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks as required
•Maintain awareness of current industry trends and Database Administration best practices
•Participate at relevant conferences, industry events, forums and associations

Job Requirements

  •Tertiary qualifications in business systems, IT or a related discipline
•Proven Database Administration skills in Oracle and SQL Server
•Prior experience installing and configure cloud based Instances
•Knowledge in administering all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, view, packages and procedures
•Experience in high-availability database monitoring and performance tuning
•Experience in PL/SQL (with exposure to Oracle types, arrays, objects)
•Experience with Version control tools
•Excellent knowledge of backup and recovery scenarios
•Plan and implement automation of Database Refresh, On boarding/off boarding
•Query optimization and tuning experience
•Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to articulate technical issues to non-technical audiences
•Ability to cope well under pressure
•Proven research and analytical skills
•Good relationship skills
