Course Objective

The ICND1: Cisco CCENT R&S course is the first step into Cisco networking. The goal of this online training course is to provide students with the fundamental skills needed to successfully install, operate, configure, and maintain Cisco routers and switches. Students who have attended the ICND1 online training course will gain competency with Cisco IOS-based devices and ISR-capable routers. Crucial elements of this course include the coverage of IPv4 subnetting, ACLs, VLANs, as well as Static and Dynamic Routing which are all needed for success at all levels of Cisco certification.

IPv6 is also introduced with a focus on static routing and OSPFv3. This online training course is preparation for the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) exam. Students pursuing their CCNA Routing and Switching certification should attend both ICND1 and ICND2 online training courses.

Exam Number: 100-101 ICND1 (Last day to test: August 20th, 2016)

Skills Learned

    • ?Network fundamentals and how to build simple LANs

    • ?Establish Internet connectivity

    • ?Manage network device security

    • ?Expand small to medium-sized networks with WAN connectivity

    • ?IPv6 basics

    • ?Describe how networks function, identifying major components, function of network components, and the OSI reference model

    • ?Describe the reasons for extending the reach of a LAN and the methods that can be used, with a focus on RF wireless access

    • ?Describe the reasons for connecting networks with routers and how routed networks transmit data through networks using TCP/IP

    • ?Describe the function of WANs, the major devices of WANs, and configure PPP encapsulation, static and dynamic routing, PAT, and RIP routing

    • Use the command-line interface to discover neighbors on the network and manage the router start up and configuration

Who Should Attend This Course

ICND1 is an essential online training course for students preparing for the CCNA or CCENT certification. Students pursuing the CCNA Routing and Switching certification should attend parts 1 & 2 of ICND. Students pursuing the CCENT certification need only attend part 1 of ICND.

    • ?Individuals seeking the CCENT certification or CCNA Routing and Switching certification

    • ?Support technicians involved in the basic installation, operation, and verification of LAN networks

    • ?Entry-level network engineers, network administrators, network support technicians, and help desk technicians

Prerequisites

    • ?Basic computer literacy

    • ?Basic Microsoft Windows navigation skills

    • ?Basic Internet usage skills

    • ?Basic e-mail usage skills

    • Completion of CompTIA Network+ is highly recommended
